Areas of Practice
Beasley and Ferber, P.A. focuses its practice on Elder Law and
Estate Planning for the elderly, those with disabilities, the
wealthy and the middle class.
The Medicaid, disability planning and Elder Law portion of the
firm's practice involves protecting one's personal autonomy and
assets in the event of disability or incapacity, including asset
preservation from long-term care. An important segment of this
practice involves Medicaid applications and appeals.
The probate and estate practice encompasses representing agents
under durable powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney,
executors, administrators and trustees, as well as guardians and
conservators. Requirements often include estate, gift and
fiduciary income tax returns, and inventories and accountings.
At times, the need to contest wills, accountings and transactions
made while incompetent may arise.
Planning for probate avoidance, including drafting revocable and
irrevocable trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, health
care powers of attorney, living wills, prenuptial agreements,
life insurance trusts, charitable trusts and deeds all fall under
the estate planning and taxation umbrella. Strategies to
minimize estate taxes for the client and client's family are
devised.
The disability section of the practice emphasizes planning for
families with special needs children including maintenance of SSI
and Medicaid eligibility for the special needs child.
